What is the difference between RFID and NFC technology?

Introduction: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC) are two keywords that are relatively hot, and both belong to Tagging.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC) are two keywords that are relatively hot, and both belong to Tagging. NFC is developed on the basis of RFID. NFC is essentially no different from RFID and is used for signal transmission between two objects with similar geographical locations.

RFID is a non-contact recognition technology from a professional point of view, divided into two types: active and passive. How it works: The RFID reader emits a radio frequency and generates a signal through an electronically-labeled coil. The reader reads the information and decodes it, completing the entire identification process. In general, active tags (active tags) can also send signals actively. The RFID system mainly consists of a reader and a transponder.

NFC is a technology that is currently used more on mobile phones. Working principle: When two NFC devices are close to each other within a very short distance, they exchange information with each other and complete corresponding transactions. The biggest feature of NFC is the integration of readers and transponders into the same chip. The biggest highlight of NFC technology is the addition of peer-to-peer communication capabilities, which can quickly establish P2P (point-to-point) wireless communication between Bluetooth devices. NFC devices look for each other and establish communication connections. Both devices of P2P communication are peer-to-peer relations, while devices of both sides of RFID communication are master-slave relationships.

The relationship between the two: From the mathematical point of view, it can be considered that NFC is a subset of RFID, that is, the RFID whose communication distance is within 10cm or 4inch is NFC. This difference is mainly due to the fact that in some applications specifically designed for cash payments and credit cards, other devices can also receive personal RFID information in the case of RFID communication distances, and thus there are many insecure factors, and effective for NFC work. The distance is about 10cm, so it has high security itself. If you use some special signal acquisition equipment, you can read RFID information at a considerable distance.
